Matt Solazzo is one of the most gifted offensive threats to ever come through the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer program. He led the Chargers in points and goals in each of his four seasons. Solazzo held the record for career points and career goals from 2003 to 2016. He ranks second in points (97), second in goals (41), and seventh in assists (15). Solazzo tied a game-high record with four goals in a 4-3 victory over Salem State, which included the game-winner in overtime, on October 17, 2002. He began his career in impressive fashion and was the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Year. He also earned CCC Honorable Mention honors. Following his rookie campaign, Solazzo registered his highest scoring output in 2001. He found the back of the net 12 times and added three assists for the second most points (27) in a season, at the time. He was named to the All-CCC First Team. Solazzo continued his offensive barrage in 2002 with 10 goals and six assists to lead the team to a conference finals appearance for just third time in program history. He again piled up the awards in his junior season by being named All-CCC First Team, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-New England, and Colby-Sawyer Male Athlete of the Year. Solazzo closed his career with another 20 points in 2003, which resulted in his fourth all-conference award of his career. He was named to the CCC Second Team and helped the Chargers to 26 conference wins, which is tied for the most in a four-year stretch in program history.
