Colby-Sawyer Athletics

Breien was one of the most successful swimmers in New England during her tenure at Colby-Sawyer College. She dominated the competition primarily in the backstroke, but also won numerous times in the freestyle, breaststroke and individual medley races. Breien won 89 of 103 individual races in four years, which included an undefeated freshman season and several victories at the New England Championships. She was named Female Swimmer of the Meet at New England’s as a freshman and earned the Kay Fromer Senior High Point Award in her final season. Breien attained a NCAA Conditional B Cut qualifying time in the 100 backstroke on two occasions. At the time of induction, Breien held five individual school records. In addition, Breien was a member of three record-holding relay teams. She qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship in the 100 backstroke all four years.
