NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 17, 2013 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team defeated Green Mountain College, 19-7 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 6-7 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Eagles drop to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the NAC.
Senior
Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.), sophomore

Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, N.H) each scored three times for the Chargers. Seniors
Kate Rial (Chester Springs, Pa.) and
Ashley Reis (Stowe, Vt.) added two goals apiece. Freshman
Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine) and sophomore
Michelle Upham (Chelsea, Vt.) scored once, while freshman
Katie Cawley (Abington, Mass.) added her first collegiate tally.
Green Mountain was led by the NAC's leading scorer, junior Johanna Douglas (Essex, Conn.). She scored four goals on six shots. Senior Bryanna Astor (Milltown, N.J.) scored twice and junior Corinne Colpitts (Groveland, Mass.) contributed one goal.
The Chargers jumped out to a 5-0 lead 10 minutes into the game, forcing the Eagles to call a timeout. Green Mountain then scored the next two goals to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Colby-Sawyer responded with a pair of goals over the next four minutes to make it 7-2. The Eagles would score four more times in the first half, but the Chargers would counter with seven goals in that span, resulting in a 14-6 halftime lead.
The teams traded the first two goals of the second frame, but Colby-Sawyer scored the game's final four goals en route to the 19-7 win.
Freshman
Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) earned the victory after working the first 30 minutes of the game. Freshman
Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) played the second half and made two saves. Eagles' goalie Virginia Anderson (Silver Spring, Md.) had 14 saves in the loss.
Colby-Sawyer travels to Castleton on Saturday for a NAC finale. Game is scheduled for a noon start. Green Mountain plays at Thomas on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
