Newton, MA – The Chargers took on the Lasell Lasers on Saturday for a GNAC quarterfinal matchup in Massachusetts on Saturday. Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) scored five goals in the 12-8 win that sends the Chargers to the GNAC semifinals.

In the second quarter, Finlayson gave the Chargers a 2-1 lead after 33 seconds. McNeill assisted a Lasell goal from Ruby Cahill to tie the game at two goals apiece. The Lasers took a 3-2 lead about a minute later when Emily Watson scored. Down by a goal, sophomore Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) scored for the Chargers with 10:06, 3:45, and 0:36 left in the first half. Vignola's three goals gave the Chargers a 5-3 lead going into the halftime break.

Ashley Pelletier (Bridgton, ME) assisted Finlayson's third of the game about a minute into the second half. Watson, Cahill (assisted by Zoe Avery), and Boldy scored for Lasell to make it a 6-6 scoreline. With 8:39 to go in the third quarter, Madeline Knight (Pownal, ME) scored for the Chargers to make it a 7-6 ball game. Lily Hunt scored the equalizer for Lasell about four-and-a-half minutes later. With less than two minutes to go in the quarter, Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT) assisted Finlayson to give the Chargers a one-goal lead.

Bronson scored for the Chargers with less than 10 minutes in the game. Lily Hunt assisted Cahill for the Lasers with 5:18 to go. Vignola scored about a minute later to give the Chargers a 10-8 lead. Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, ME) and Finlayson (assisted by Knight) each scored a goal for the Chargers before the end of the game. The Chargers won the game 12-8.

The Chargers earned a spot in the GNAC semifinals on Tuesday. The Chargers will travel to play against Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Standish, Maine on Tuesday at 7pm.
