WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOSES HARD FOUGHT BATTLE WITH LASERS

Newton, MA – The Chargers completed their regular season on Wednesday as they took on the Lasell Lasers in Massachusetts. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Brianna McNeil (assisted by Lily Hunt) and Mara Boldy (assisted by Ruby Cahill) scored for the Lasers in the first seven minutes of the game. McNeil (assisted by Emily Watson) added a goal for the Lasers with 5:27 to go in the first quarter. Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) assisted Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) for the first Charger goal of the game. McNeil assisted Boldy for a goal for the Lasers. Grace Joly (Windham, ME) and Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT) each scored a goal for Colby-Sawyer within the last three minutes of the quarter. The Lasers led 4-3 going into quarter number two. 

  • Boldy (assisted by Watson), Hunt (assisted by Cahill), and Cahill all scored goals for Lasell in the second quarter. Joly assisted Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) for the Chargers with 1:10 left in the half. The Lasers led 7-4 going into the halftime break. 

  • Emma Dressel scored a goal for Lasell in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Finlayson assisted Joly with 11 minutes left in the third. Finlayson added a Charger goal, to cut the deficit to two goals. Boldy assisted Watson before the end of the third quarter. Lasell led 9-6 with one quarter left to play. 

  • Vignola scored in the first three minutes of the fourth for the Chargers. Watson (assisted by Hunt) and Hunt (assisted by Zoe Avery) each scored a goal for Lasell. Less than a minute after the last goal, Bronson scored for the Chargers. With 1:33 to go in the game, Madeline Knight (Pownal, ME) scored off an assist from Bronson for the Chargers. The Lasers won the game 11-9. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Bronson, Vignola, and Joly all scored two goals for the Chargers on Wednesday. 

  • Addison Glavin (Andover, MA) picked up a season-high six ground balls. Glavin also made six saves on the day. Finlayson won six draw controls. 

  • Boldy scored three goals on Wednesday. 

  • The Chargers combined for 21 ground balls. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will play in the GNAC Quarterfinals at Lasell on Saturday at 11am.
