Colby-Sawyer College Athletics

New London, NH – The Chargers played against Mitchell College on Senior Day on Saturday. Five seniors scored, as the Chargers won 23-0.  

Rapid Recap: 

• Anika Jenkins (Tyngsboro, MA) kicked things off for the Chargers, with a goal in the first minute of the game. Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) assisted Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) for the second of the game, before Ponzini scored off an assist from Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT). Sophie Pedro (Scituate, RI) assisted Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead. Jenkins and Finlayson each scored another goal in the first quarter, while Ponzini and Vignola both scored two more in the quarter. The Chargers led 10-0 going into the second quarter. 

• Finlayson scored two goals in the first six minutes of the second quarter. Pedro and Allison Linscott (Pembroke, MA) both added a goal before the halftime break. 

• In the first six minutes after halftime, Bronson scored two goals for the Chargers. Vignola scored the third Charger goal of the quarter. 

• Claire Stroshine (Keene, NH) scored for the Chargers within the first minute of the fourth quarter. Grace Joly (Windham, ME), Bronson, and Finlayson all scored for the Chargers. In the last six minutes of the game, Bronson and Vignola both scored. The Chargers won 23-0. 

Inside the Numbers: 

• Vignola ended the game on five goals and one assist, while Finlayson had five goals and three assists. Bronson scored four and assisted three, and senior teammate Ponzini scored three and assisted two. Jenkins scored two goals on the day. Joly had a goal and an assist. Pedro had a goal and four assists in the win. Linscott and Stroshine both scored a goal in the game, and Madeline Knight (Pownal, ME) assisted one. 

• Addison Glavin (Andover, MA) and Bethany Rose (Andover, MA) split the game in goal and combined for three saves. 

• Arrianna Stark had three ground balls for the Mariners. 

• The Chargers combined for 21 draw control wins.
