AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 4, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team won all four of its games to open the 2012 season on their annual spring break trip to Florida. The Chargers defeated Cornell College 8-0 and 4-3 in nine innings. Colby-Sawyer then picked up a sweep over SUNYIT, 10-2 and 10-4.

Game 1 - Win 8-0 - Sophomore pitcher
Kevin Keith dazzled in the Chargers' season debut, throwing a complete game shutout. He allowed only five hits and stuck out seven.
Tyler Stotz led the offensive attack with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in.
Greg Mehuron went 2-4 with a par of singles, while
Jon Wylie chipped in two RBI and a double.
Andy Lapple also contributed a pair of hits.
Game 2 - Win 4-3 - Senior
Greg Doucette earned the victory out of the bullpen with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.
Justin Martin led the team with a pair of RBI on a sacrifice fly and a single.
Greg Mehuron singled in
Alex Fredette in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Chargers to the victory.

Game 1 was a 10-2 victory for Colby-Sawyer. Sophomore pitcher
Alex Drost was the winning pitcher after throwing a complete 7 inning game, allowing just two earned runs, and walking just one batter.
Jon Wylie belted a grand slam home run in the 2nd inning.
Sean Gavin had a pair of hits and two RBI, while
Tyler Stotz connected for a single, a triple and added two RBI.
BOX SCORE - Colby-Sawyer 10, SUNYIT 4
Game 2 - The Chargers were able to come from behind being down 4-2 at one point in the game and having the hits come through when it mattered the most to win 10-4.
Senior hurler
Greg Doucette came into the game for relief for a second day in a row and was able to shut down SUNYIT offense by not allowing a run, on one hit for the win. Multiple hitters on the team were contributing members in the 2nd game, including sophomore
Jon Wylie who hit a second home run on the day and three RBI.
Tyler Stotz hit two singles with two RBI.
Greg Mehuron had a pair of hits.
Justin Martin had a pair of hits and one RBI.
Colby-Sawyer will be back on the playing field on Monday at 2:30pm at Chain O'Lakes Park in Winter Haven FL vs. Waynesburg PA University for one nine inning game.
