CHARGERS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 8 WINS OVER PILGRIMS

Henniker, NH – The Chargers took on New England College at Laurie Cox Memorial Field on Saturday for a GNAC doubleheader. The Chargers won both games to improve their conference record to 9-7. 

Game 1 Rapid Recap: 

  • Dylan Watson (Byfield, MA) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers, and Christopher Chagnon was the starting pitcher for the Pilgrims. 

  • Jacob Putnam (North Haverhill, NH) scored in the top of the 1st to give the Chargers an early lead. 

  • In inning number four, Evan Dennis (East Ryegate, VT) hit an RBI double into center field to add a run for the Chargers. Two at bats later, Dennis scored a run as Sean Roeger (Salem, NH) hit an RBI triple. Roeger scored later in the inning. Devin Montalvo (Coram, NY) hit an RBI single to give the Chargers a 5-0 lead after the top of the 4th. 

  • Mike McLeer (Saco, ME) hit a home run in the 5th inning for Colby-Sawyer. 

  • Jesse Chaves (Taunton, MA) and Roeger both hit RBI singles in the 7th for the Chargers. 

  • The Chargers won the game 8-0. 

Game 1 Inside the Numbers: 

  • Watson pitched the complete game. Watson gave up no runs, four hits, and threw four strikeouts. Watson earned his second win of the season. 

  • McLeer and Roeger each had three hits in the game. 

  • Brady Philibotte was 1-3 from the plate for the Pilgrims. 

  • The Chargers combined for 14 hits. 

Game 2 Rapid Recap: 

  • Mike Hogan (Piermont, NH) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers, and Isaias Nuno was the starting pitcher for the Pilgrims. 

  • The Chargers took an early lead, as McLeer hit an RBI single into left field. Dennis hit an RBI single into center field to make it a 2-0 ball game. McLeer scored later in the inning to give the Chargers a three-run lead going into the bottom of the 1st. 

  • Jaken Pellerin hit a 2 RBI double into left field for the Pilgrims in the bottom of the 1st. Philibotte scored for the Pilgrims and Dillan Abbate hit an RBI single. Ryan Cote hit an RBI ground out to give the Pilgrims a 5-3 lead. 

  • Putnam and Dennis both scored runs in the 3rd to make it an even ball game with both teams having five runs. 

  • McLeer hit an RBI single down the left field line in the 4th. In the same inning, Dennis hit a 2 RBI home run down the right field line. 

  • In the 6th inning, Putnam scored and Chaves hit an RBI single. Colby-Sawyer led 11-5. 

  • Watson and Dennis scored Charger runs in the 7th. Philibotte hit a 2 RBI single for the Pilgrims in the 9th. 

  • The Chargers won the game 13-7. 

Game 2 Inside the Numbers: 

  • Watson, McLeer, and Dennis all had three hits in the game. 

  • Pellerin was 3-5 from the plate for the Pilgrims. 

  • The Chargers combined for 15 hits. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will host Elms on Wednesday for a GNAC doubleheader with the first game to start at 12pm.
