Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-conference Tilt to Keene, 15-6

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 21, 2011 – Keene senior attacker Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) had four points giving her 285, which is a new school record for career points, in a 15-6 triumph over Colby-Sawyer on Thursday at Mercer Field.

The Owls improve to 7-5 overall, while Colby-Sawyer falls to 7-9.

Keene held an 8-4 advantage at the half and held Colby-Sawyer to two goals in the second en route to the 15-6 win. The Owls held an edge in shots (35-19) and draw controls (16-7).

Sawyer surpassed Michelle Mason's '05 career mark of 284 on an unassisted goal at 14:12 in the second half.

Sophomore Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) led all players with four goals in the Keene victory. Sophomore Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) and senior Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.) added three goals each.

The Chargers were led by Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.). She scored three goals and had two assists for the second straight game. Senior Samantha Draper (Duxbury, Mass.), sophomore Kate Rial (Chester Springs, Pa.) and junior Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) chipped in a goal each.

Junior Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett, R.I.) earned her first victory of the season in net for the Owls and made 4 saves in 30 minutes. Sophomore Christine Collins (Cheshire, Conn.) made five saves and played the second half for Keene. Sophomore Liz Malenfant (Siasconset, Mass.) made 14 saves in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer will host Anna Maria in a regular season finale on Monday, April 25 at 4:00 pm. Keene plays at Southern Maine on Saturday at noon.
