Kevin Keith Becomes Career Leader in Strikeouts

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKELAND, Fla. – March 9, 2014 – Colby-Sawyer senior pitcher Kevin Keith (Quincy, Mass.) became the school's all-time leader in career strikeouts with 171, after recording six in Sunday's first game against SUNYIT. The Chargers took the first game 15-1, while SUNYIT won the second game 15-0.

Colby-Sawyer evens its record at 2-2, while the Wildcats are 1-1 after two games.

GAME ONE – Colby-Sawyer 15, SUNYIT 1 - BOX SCORE

Keith tossed his 17th career complete game in earning the win. He gave up four hits, a run and struck out six to reach 171 career punch-out's. He passed Sean Gildea '07 who recorded 169 career strikeouts.

The Chargers gave the senior captain plenty of run support early with a run in the first and seven in the second. Keith surrendered the lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Kevin Rowlands.

Colby-Sawyer added five runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh en route to the 15-1 win.

The Chargers received at least one RBI from nine different players. Nathan Frongillo went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Lucas Edwards added a pair of knocks, while Vinny Monahan scored a team best three runs.

Jeff Albright took the loss for the Wildcats.

GAME TWO – SUNYIT 15, Colby-Sawyer 0 - BOX SCORE

The Wildcats rebounded in game two to win in similar fashion as the Chargers did in game one.

Joseph Redmond went the distance for the Wildcats. He gave up four and struck out 10 to earn his first win of the season.

SUNYIT got on the board in its first at-bat on an RBI triple from Kevin Rowlands. The Wildcats exploded for an eight spot in the second inning to create a comfortable advantage.

The lead increased in the fifth and sixth innings when the Wildcats scored one and five, respectively.

Jim Sass had a team best three hits in the leadoff spot. He also drove in two and scored twice. Tyler Vyce, Rowlands, and Dante Rose added two RBI each. Ryan Dungey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a game best three RBI.

PJ Singster took the loss for Colby-Sawyer.  Mike Peters tossed two perfect innings of relief, while Lucas Edwards had a clean seventh inning.

Colby-Sawyer will play a nine inning game against Curry on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Myrtle Baseball Complex in Auburndale, Fla. SUNYIT plays a twin bill with Fitchburg at Chain of Lakes on Monday beginning at noon.
