BOX SCORE

After three innings of scoreless baseball, the visiting Chargers picked up two runs in the top of the fourth inning when a failed pick-off attempt brought Vinny Monahan (Foxboro, Mass.) in to score the game's first run. A single by Rob Wallace (Tewksbury, Mass.) plated Nathan Frongillo (Haverhill, Mass.) to give CSC the 2-0 lead after three and a half. The Wildcats quickly erased the lead when they erupted for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Back-to-back two-run singles by junior Kory Ferullo (Rochester, N.H.) and freshman Joe Walsh (West Sayville, N.Y.) capped off the inning and gave JWU the 6-2 lead after four.

Colby-Sawyer did not go quietly as they picked up three runs in the top of the eighth inning to cut the Wildcats lead to just one. Monahan, Frongillo and Jon Wylie (Middleboro, Mass.) each had an RBI in the inning. JWU responded once more to extend the lead to 7-5 in the bottom half of the eighth after senior Tyler Pacheco (East Hampstead, N.H.) hit a leadoff double to start the inning. Pinch-runner Tom Elkow (Morganville, N.J.) came around to score on a miscue by the Chargers. CSC scored once more in the ninth before JWU took the 7-6 victory.

Junior John Amodeo (Mahopac, N.Y.) pitched five innings, striking out ten and allowing one earned run for JWU while senior Tim Ashworth (West Chesterfield, N.H.) picked up his fourth save of the season. Kevin Keith (Quincy, Mass.) pitched the complete game for the Chargers striking out nine and did not allow an earned run.

The victory improves the Wildcats record to 11-2 this season while Colby-Sawyer falls to 3-9 on the year.
