HENNIKER, N.H. – March 23, 2011 - Colby-Sawyer College's
Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) recorded eight goals and dished out five assists leading the Chargers past the New England College Pilgrims 20-15 in women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.

With the win the Chargers even their overall record at 3-3 and improve to 2-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The loss drops the Pilgrims to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in TCCC play.
NEC would jump out to the early lead recording the first five goals of the game, including two by senior captain Emily Kuchta (Norwalk, Conn.). Colby-Sawyer would charge back as both Murphy and
Samantha Draper (Duxbury, Mass.) would net two goals each cutting the Pilgrim lead to 7-5 at the midway point in the first.
Colby-Sawyer would knot the game at 7-7 with 12:04 remaining in the half but NEC's Amanda Naime (York, Maine) would respond with back-to-back goals to put the Pilgrims back up 9-7. The Chargers would close out the half with three unanswered goals to grab their first lead of the game, up 10-9 just before halftime.
The Colby-Sawyer offense would explode in the second half as they would build their lead to five goals, up 16-11 just eight minutes in. NEC would cut the lead to 16-13 at the 17 minute mark but that is as close as they would get as Colby-Sawyer would go on to capture the 20-15 victory.
Colby-Sawyer finished the game with the slight 41-37 advantage in shots.

Laurel Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) netted three goals for the Charges.
Leading the way NEC was Amanda Naime who netted five goals and had an assist. Emily Kuchta and Sam Aucoin (Henniker, N.H.) each chipped in three goals for the Pilgrims.
Picking up the win in goal for Colby-Sawyer was
Liz Malenfant (Siasconset, Mass.) who finished with 16 saves. In net for NEC was Caroline Doherty (Miller Place, N.Y.) who recorded 11 saves.
The Chargers will host Roger Williams on Saturday at 7:00 pm. The game will be played at Southern New Hampshire University.
