WOMEN'S LACROSSE HOSTS SALVE REGINA FOR HOME OPENER

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team will play at home for the first time this season on Saturday against Salve Regina University. 

The Chargers won their season opener on Saturday at Clark University 13-4. Six different players scored goals for the Chargers. This will be the second of three non-conference games before the Chargers start Conference play next week. 

The Seahawks won their season opener on Saturday at Bridgewater State University 9-8. This will be the second road game for the Seahawks before they play their first home game on Tuesday. 

The Chargers: 

  • Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) – Vignola scored a career-high six goals in the season opener. 

  • Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) – Ponzini scored two goals and recorded an assist on Saturday. 

  • Grace Joly (Windham, ME) – Joly was named GNAC rookie of the week last week, after causing three turnovers, recording two assists, and scoring a goal on Saturday. 

The Seahawks: 

  • Madison Maire – Maire scored three goals on Saturday. 

  • Avery Nistl – Nistl scored a pair of goals and recorded an assist in the season opener. 

  • Mary Flynn Kayajan – Kayajan was named the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week last week and recorded 15 saves in the season opener. 

The Historical Matchup: 

This will be the first time that the two teams will play each other since 2011. It will be the 14th all-time meeting. 

Looking Ahead: 

After this game, the Chargers will travel to Fitchburg State University for a non-conference game on Wednesday.
