NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Eastern Nazarene College Lions got the best of the Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team on Wednesday night, taking a 3-0 win over the Chargers.
RAPID RECAP:
- The Chargers dropped the first set 25-9, earning a total of three kills. First-year Christopher Huynh (Methuen, Mass.) collected two of the three kills with senior Eric Miller (La Grange, Ill.) receiving the other.
- Set two saw more action from the Colby-Sawyer offense, recording seven kills with all seven helpers coming from senior AJ Gnieski (Needham, Mass.).
- The closest set of the night came in the third with the score 25-13. The men started strong with a 3-0 advantage over the Lions until an opposing kill stopped their run. Then, back to back kills from graduate student Andrew Kovacs (Wellesley, Mass.) set the score 6-2, giving the Chargers a four-point lead. From there, the Lions entered attack mode, taking the reins the rest of the way.
NOTES & NOTABLES:
- The team produced 18 total kills on the night with Miller, Huynh, and first-year Isaac Davies (Hinesburg, Vt.) equally leading the team with four each.
- Gnieski put up an impressive 13 helpers for a new season high.
- The team as a whole collected 18 kills, 16 assists, one serving ace, three blocks and 18 total digs.
