BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - January 19, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team won a pair of matches in a tri-match hosted by Sarah Lawrence. The Chargers defeated Brooklyn 3-1 and swept Sarah Lawrence 3-0.
The Chargers go to 2-2 after splitting the first four matches of the season. Colby-Sawyer plays at Eastern Nazarene on Thursday.
After dropping the first set to Brooklyn 25-17, the Chargers rebounded by winning the next three sets 25-21, 25-20 and 25-15.
Eric Miller posted a match best 10 kills, while
Giovani Dos Reis contributed nine kills.
Mikey Guzman hit .364 to finish with six kills.
AJ Gnieski ran the offense with 26 assists, while
Orlando Plagata led the defensive effort with a match-high 13 digs.
Colby-Sawyer ended its trip to New York with a 3-0 sweep of Sarah Lawrence by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-10. The Chargers hit .317 as a team
Andrew Kovacs hit an impressive .615 to lead all players with nine kills. Miller added another eight kills to his weekend total, while Guzman converted four kills on five attempts. Plagata registered 10 digs and seven assists.
