NEW YORK, N.Y. - January 18, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team began its second season with a couple matches in New York on Saturday. The Chargers dropped a 3-0 decision to CCNY and a 3-1 match to Neumann.
In the day's first match, CCNY won by scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-22.
The Chargers were led by
Giovani Dos Reis. He posted seven kills on .316 hitting to go with five digs.
Orlando Plagata picked up a team best 11 digs.
AJ Gnieski tallied 18 assists, seven digs and three kills.
Michael Queen added seven digs and four block assists.
Colby-Sawyer and Nuemann then played a close 3-1 match. Neumann escaped with the victory by scores of 25-16, 27-25, 24-26 and 25-22.
Eric Miller paced the Colby-Sawyer attack with 13 kills to go with 11 digs.
Orlando Plagata posted a match-high 22 digs.
Giovani Dos Reis completed a strong collegiate debut with eight kills, 15 digs and five aces.
AJ Gnieski added 26 assists, 11 digs and six aces.
The Chargers will remain in New York to play a tri-match on Sunday hosted by Sarah Lawrence.
