Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 5, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team's second half surge was not enough to overcome the Terriers of Thomas College. The Chargers lost 13-10 Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference play at Sally Shaw Veitch Field.
BOX SCOREWith the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in NAC play while the Terriers improve to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the NAC.
Colby-Sawyer was led by junior
Alyssia Janak. Janak scored four times including scoring three straight goals for the Chargers to give them their sole lead of the afternoon early in the second half.

Carly Baker and sophomore
Maryalice Gurnee each netted a pair of goals while sophomores
Sara Berry and
Caitlyn Whearty added a goal each. Whearty also helped out with a pair of assists.
Thomas College was led by a four goal and four assist performance from senior Miranda Tinsman (Belgrade, Maine). Senior Jillian Lambert (Dayton, Maine) and junior Brittany Primo (Concord, N.H.) each netted three goals and an assist in the win.

Kellie Lander tallied nine saves for the Chargers. Her freshman counterpart, Allie McCarthy (Saco, Maine), turned away five shots.
The Terriers outshot the Chargers 30 to 18, picked up 21 groundballs to the Colby-Sawyer's 15 and forced the Chargers into 21 total turnovers to the Terriers 12 total.
Thomas controlled the scoreboard early in the first half with their largest lead at three goals with 7:47 remaining in the half.
Alyssia Janak would net two of her four goals to cut the lead to 6-7, but a late first half goal from Thomas' Jennifer Day (Gardiner, Maine) sent the game to the half with the Terriers up 8-6.
Janek and Baker would help the Chargers come out of the half with three straight goals to give Colby-Sawyer their lone lead of the afternoon at 9-8. The Terriers responded with four goals of their own, two from Primo, to retake the lead and go up 12-10. A late insurance goal from Jillian Lambert gave Thomas the 13-10 final.
Colby-Sawyer returns to NAC action Wednesday when they travel to Castleton for a 7:00 pm draw. Thomas will host NAC foe Maine Farmington Tuesday at 4:00pm.
