NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 24, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team has landed in the sixth spot in this year's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) standings and will travel to third seed New England College on Saturday for a NAC Tournament first round contest. First draw will be at 11:00 a.m.
Colby-Sawyer (3-12, 1-5 NAC) and New England College (5-11, 4-2 NAC) will meet for the second time this season. The Pilgrims protected home field on April 2, with a 15-11 victory over the Chargers.
The Chargers are led by
Caitlyn Whearty,
Alyssia Janak and
Sara Berry. Whearty has a team best 32 points on 23 goals and nine assists. Janak has contributed 16 goals and seven assists this season. Berry does it all for Colby-Sawyer as she leads the team in ground balls (45), draw controls (43) and caused turnovers (28). Freshman
Kellie Lander will be in net for the Chargers boasting a .472 save percentage.
New England College features a pair of 30+ goal scorers in Jacquelyn Lane and Allison Granata. Lane has 31 goals and a team best seven assists. Granata leads the team with 33 goals and 64 ground balls. Mackenzie Meegan has been the goalie in 14 games this season and has a .425 save percentage.
