Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 22, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's lacrosse team defeated Green Mountain College, 18-7 in a pivotal North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Chargers (3-11, 1-5 NAC) lock up the sixth seed in the Saturday's NAC tournament first round game. Green Mountain ends its season at 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the NAC.

The first 13 minutes of the game was played back and forth as each team tried to find an offensive flow. The Chargers took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals 30 seconds apart from Paige Prokop (Woburn, Mass.) and Sarah Harlow (Putney, Vt.).

Green Mountain answered back with a pair of goals to tie the score at 2-2. The Chargers went in front 4-2 minutes later, but once again Green Mountain responded with two goals from Erin McAuliffe (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Johanna Douglas (Essex, Conn.) to knot the game 4-4.

Colby-Sawyer then found a rhythm, which resulted in a 5-0 spurt in a three minute span. Alyssia Janak (Bourne, Mass.) had three of the five goals in that stretch for the Chargers.

Douglas broke up the hot streak for Colby-Sawyer at 12:05 with her third tally of the game, but Colby-Sawyer continued to apply pressure and ended the half with five more goals to take a 14-5 lead at the break.

Green Mountain scored the first and last goal of the second half, but Colby-Sawyer had four goals in between as the Chargers came away with an 18-7 victory.

Janak and Michelle Upham (Chelsea, Vt.) led the Chargers with four goals apiece. Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine) added three goals and a game-high five draw controls. Sarah Harlow scored twice.

Douglas scored four times for the Eagles and picked up four draw controls. McAuliffe contributed a pair, while Corinne Colpitts (Groveland, Mass.) added her 10th goal of the season.

Freshman Kellie Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) earned the win in goal for the Chargers. She made eight saves. Green Mountain senior Virginia Anderson (Silver Spring, Md.) stopped 10 shots in the loss.

The Chargers outshot the Eagles 36-17 and had a 17-10 edge in draw controls.
