Worcester State Downs Women's Lacrosse, 15-4

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 21 2014 – The Worcester State women's lacrosse team ran its win streak to five and received goals from eight different players in Monday's 15-4 win at Colby-Sawyer College.

Worcester State improves to 9-3 and will host Salem State on Wednesday under the lights at 7:00 p.m. The Chargers drop to 2-11 and will host North Atlantic Conference (NAC) foe Green Mountain tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.

Sophomore Kalia Chase (Northbridge, Mass.) opened the scoring nearly 10 minutes into the game off a feed from sophomore Jackie Connors (Ashland, Mass.).

The Chargers responded less than three minutes later with sophomore Caitlyn Whearty's (Hampstead, N.H.) team leading 21st goal of the season.

The Lancers took a 6-1 advantage with five goals from five different players in a five minute span.

Colby-Sawyer was able to get two back before half. Freshman Paige Prokop (Woburn, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal with a minute to go. Sophomore Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine) made the score 6-3 with eight seconds remaining in the half.  

Worcester State took command of the game in the second half with five straight goals in the opening 17 minutes. Connors had three tallies in that stretch.

Berry added her second goal of the game at 10:52 to bring the Chargers to within seven at 11-4, but the Lancers scored four more goals in the final 5:24 of the game to win 15-4.

Connors led Worcester State with five goals. Junior Molly Kilday (Westford, Mass.) added three goals and five draws. Freshman goalie Lea Robichaud (Holden, Mass.) earned her ninth win of the season and made six stops.

Berry led the Chargers with a pair of goals. Whearty and Prokop finished with a goal apiece. Senior Amazjah Grant (Syracuse, N.Y.) had a team best six ground balls. Freshman Kellie Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) made eight saves in the loss.

The Lancers held a 33-14 edge in shots and won 17 of 21 draws.
