Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. – March 13, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season after defeating Johnson & Wales, 8-6 in a non-conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y.) tallied two goals and added an assist for Johnson & Wales while junior
Michelle Upham (Chelsea, Vt.) notched a pair of goals in the win for Colby-Sawyer.
Junior Genevieve Giampietro (Meriden, Conn.) made 13 saves in the loss for Johnson & Wales while freshman
Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) had a pair of saves to pick up the win for the Chargers.
Johnson & Wales took an early 3-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Knapp at the 11:59 mark of the first half. The Wildcats used a free position shot from junior Natalie DiCocco (Media, Pa.) at the 27:03 mark to take the 5-3 lead heading into halftime.
The Wildcats led 6-4 just five minutes into the second half on Knapp's second goal of the day, her 20th of the season. Colby-Sawyer then scored the last four goals of the game, including what would prove to be the game-winner by sophomore
Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, N.Y.) at the 23:24 mark, en route to the 8-6 victory.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 3-2 while Colby-Sawyer improves to 1-2 on the season. The Chargers are scheduled to host Worcester State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
