BOX SCORE
Colby-Sawyer held a 2-0 lead early in the second half before Elms evened the game with less than seven minutes to play. A draw looked imminent with less than a minute to go, but an Elms player committed a foul resulting in a free kick. Junior
Alex Ortega (Milton, Vt.) sent a bending ball towards the right corner of the six-yard box where DiCecca rose above the defenders and headed the game-winning goal by the keeper.
After a scoreless 40 minutes to begin the game, freshman
Rick Prindiville (Hooksett, N.H.) put the Chargers on top 1-0. Prindiville headed the ball by the keeper off a cross from former Manchester Central teammate junior
Max Yee (Hooksett, N.H.).
Colby-Sawyer held a 1-0 lead at the half and quickly went in front 2-0, less than five minutes into the second frame. DiCecca ripped a shot towards the Elms net, but the keeper knocked the ball away. Junior
Carlton Wheeler-Omiunu (Bellingham, Mass.) found the ball in the air and headed it into the net for the Chargers' second goal.
Elms, who was chosen to win the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), cut the deficit in half on a goal from senior Ziggy Jonathan (Burumdi, Africa) in the 56th minute. He was set up nicely on a through ball by senior Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.).
Jonathan almost had his second goal of the game with less than seven minutes to play, but Colby-Sawyer keeper
Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I.) came up with a save. However, Austin knocked the ball back into play and O'Grady calmly collected the ball and scored into the open net.
Austin finished with seven saves in the Colby-Sawyer win. Elms keeper Christian Kostka (Oxford, Conn.) made five saves in the loss.
