Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CHARGERS BATTLE HARD AGAINST TOP SEEDED BLUE JAYS

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team hosted the current GNAC top seed, University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon.

 

Rapid Recap:

  • Both the Blue Jays and the Chargers would go back and forth as neither team was taking shots early on. This game was mostly possession until the Chargers would get a few attempts. The Blue Jays would take a 1-0 after a foul in the box led Nicholas Simpson to take the penalty kick.

  • It was more of a hard fought battle between the two teams for the first 22 minutes of the second half until another foul called in the box saw the Blue Jays take a 2-0 lead. The Blue Jays would pick up two more goals to round out the game.

  • The Chargers had many opportunities to score, with many shots just going outside the posts. Colby-Sawyer ripped 7 shots in the second half during a comeback attempt. 

 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • The Chargers took 11 total shots while landing two on target. Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.) and Cullen Visscher (Katy,Texas) would take three shots each, landing one on goal.

  • Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) would pick up 5 saves on the day.

The Chargers will head to Standish, Maine to take on another top conference team in Saint Joe's of Maine on October 21st with a 7PM kickoff.
