Women's Basketball Rolls to 86-20 Win at Green Mountain

POULTNEY, Vt. - January 10, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team shot 57.6% en route to an 86-20 victory at Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference action Thursday evening. 

The Chargers improve to 9-4 overall and 7-0 in NAC play. Green Mountain falls to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Colby-Sawyer got off to a fast start and was able to keep the momentum going throughout the game. The Eagles struggled to handle the Chargers' suffocating defense and finished the game with 28 turnovers and just eight field goals.

Colby-Sawyer got off to a flying start in the first half shooting 71.9% from the floor and caused 15 turnovers. The Chargers continued their defensive pressure in the second half causing 13 more turnovers. Offensively senior guard Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, Mass.) went 11-of-15 from the floor en route to a game-high 23 points and pulled down six rebounds. She is now the school record holder for career field goals made. Sophomore Kelsey Cahill (Cumberland, R.I.) finished the night with 13 points and five boards. Senior Cailin Bullett (Millbury, Mass.) added nine points and moved into 10th on Colby-Sawyer's all-time scoring list. Freshman Katie McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) also reached double-figures with 10 points on 5-7 shooting. 

The Eagles found baskets hard to come by as they shot just 17% from the floor on the night. Sophomore forward Amber Heath (Windsor, Vt.) led the Eagled with eight points. The Eagles again received an energetic effort off the bench from freshman guard Keelin Banks (Wilmot, N.H.).

Colby-Sawyer hosts Castleton on Saturday at 1:00 pm in  a meeting of unbeaten conference records. The Spartans enter the game with a 13-0 overall mark and 6-0 in the NAC.
