Women's Lacrosse Wins at Thomas, 10-6

WATERVILLE, Maine - April 7, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team defeated Thomas, 10-6 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division game Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field on the campus of Thomas College.

Colby-Sawyer's Molly Prudden had a game-high four goals and two assists on the afternoon.  

Jennifer Day was the Terriers top performer scoring two goals and collecting three ground balls.  With the loss the Terriers drop their second game in a row, while the visiting Chargers pick up their sixth win of the season and improve to 2-0 in conference play.

The Chargers (6-5, 2-0 NAC East Division) came out firing, recording 16 shots and scoring eight goals in the first half.  Colby-Sawyer scored the first four goals in the half to take the quick 4-0 lead before Terriers (3-4, 0-2 NAC East Division) would answer when Ceara DiBiase netted a goal with 10 minutes to go in the half to bring the score to 4-1.  Colby-Sawyer would answer with goals from Prudden and Laurel Bauer.  Thomas responded with two goals from Day and DiBiase.  The Chargers added two more goalsto end the half up 8-3.

The second half saw both teams settle down into the game as goals were hard to come by.  Thomas opened the half scoring two minutes in off the stick of first year Brittany Premo.  The Chargers answered not even a minute later when Brittney Murphy buried one in the net past the Terriers' goalie Teshia Cates.  Colby-Sawyer received one more goal from Murphy in the half.  Thomas would go on to score two more goals in the half from Brianna Yates and Day, but were unable to pull off the comeback as they fell with a final score of 10-6.

Adrienne Bender picks up the win in goal for the Chargers recording three saves on 14 shots.  Cates shoulders the loss for the Terriers as she made 9 saves on 30 shots.
