FARMINGTON, Maine - April 6, 2012 - Colby-Sawyer College tallied the first 11 goals of the game to charge past the University of Maine at Farmington 15-5 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (2-3 overall, 0-1 NAC East), who were coming off a 12-day layoff, are scheduled to host Castleton State College on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Chargers (5-5, 1-0) are slated to visit Thomas College Saturday at 11 a.m.
Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) led Colby-Sawyer with five goals and four assists. Murphy became the Chargers' all-time leader in assists (72).
Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) provided four goals and two assists in the victory with
Ashley Reis adding two goals and two assists and
Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) pitching in a pair of goals.
Kate Rial (Chester Springs, Pa.) and
Sam Rober (Bedford, Mass.) completed the Colby-Sawyer scoring with a goal each.
Amie Daniels (Lewiston, Maine), Abbey Gilbert (Wilton, Maine), Marisa Hanning (Hebron, Maine), Maddi Kadnar (Belgrade, Maine) and Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) each scored a goal for the Beavers, who were outshot 37-24 in the game.
Murphy netted four goals and Prudden a hat trick in the visitors' game-opening run, which spanned the first 20:56 of the contest. Morrison ended the stretch with an unassisted tally, but the Beavers trailed 11-2 at intermission.
Prudden, Murphy and Bauer each struck in the first 15 minutes of the second half to help Colby-Sawyer build a 14-2 cushion on its way to the 15-5 victory
Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine) recorded eight saves for the Beavers.
Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) made five saves for the Chargers.
