KEENE, N.H. - April 3, 2012 - Colby-Sawyer senior
Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) became the Chargers' all-time leader in career points with 232.
She scored five goals and added an assist, but it was not enough as Keene came away with a 16-8 win.
Murphy already holds single season Colby-Sawyer records in points (100), goals (72) and assists (28). She surpassed Jesse Wilfert's ('03) 231 career points with her performance on Tuesday. Murphy also moved into third on the all-time goals list with 164 and is one assist shy of tying Wilfert's leading assist total of 69.
Junior Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) netted a career high five goals to lead Keene State College.
Keene State, which extends its winning streak to four games, improves to 6-2. Colby Sawyer (4-5) saw its three game winning streak come to an end.
Junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) scored the Owls first two goals in the first minute and a half of the game. After CSC junior
Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) made it 2-1, Keene State reeled off the next 10 goals to take a 12-1 halftime lead. Curry scored four of her goals in the first half uprising.
Sophomore Julie Trombetta (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the first goal of the second half to put the Owls on top 13-1. The Chargers came alive, scoring the next four goals to make it a 13-5 game.
After a time-out, senior Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Curry found the back of the net to push the Owls' lead back up to 15-5.
Junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) each had three goals for the Owls. Trombetta netted a pair and junior Lindsay McManus (Dover, N.H.), freshman Christa Demovellan (Westwood, Mass.) and Corace had single tallies. Freshman Polly Grey (Saratoga, N.Y.) and Witherbee also had three assists.
Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) had a solid game in goal for the Owls before being lifted early in the second half. She stopped four shots, robbing CSC senior
Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) of a goal with a point-blank save early in the game. Sophomore Libby Curran (Londonderry, N.H.) played the final 21 minutes of the game and made two saves.
Sophomore
Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) finished the game with five saves for the Chargers.
