Lacrosse Earns Third Straight Victory With 18-4 Win Over Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass.- March 29, 2012 – Colby-Sawyer College women's lacrosse earned their third straight victory with a 18-4 win over Anna Maria College in non-conference women's lacrosse action tonight at Amcat field. With the win the Chargers even their record at 4-4 while the Amcats drop to 1-3.

The Chargers' were paced by senior Brittney Murphy's (Woburn, Mass.) nine points (4 g, 5 a) and Molly Prudden's (Andover, Mass.) four goal night. Allie Piper (Barre, VT), Amanda Murray (Norwood, Mass) Carly Stevens (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Alyssia Janak (Boure, Mass.) each added two points. Piper and Stevens had their first collegiate goals in the win.

Anna Maria was led by junior Sandy Acosta's (Lawrence, Mass.) hat trick and Mackenzie Coakley's (Millbury, Mass.) single tally. Goaltender Marlena Donjacour (San Francisco, CA) made 16 saves on the night.

Colby-Sawyer opened up the game scoring twelve unanswered goals. Murphy and Prudden each scored three goals in the onslaught while Same Rober (Bedford, Mass.), Carly Stevens (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Janek added unassisted scores.

Anna Maria broke up the shutout in the first half with back-to-back goals by Sandy Acosta, at the 8:17 and 7:23 marks respectively. Colby-Sawyer scored twice more before the end of the half to maintain the 12 goal advantage at 14-2 heading to halftime.

Anna Maria received second half goals by Mackenzie Coakley and Sandy Acosta.

Colby-Sawyer returns to action Tuesday April 3 when they travel to Keene State for a 4:00 pm tilt while Anna Maria hosts Emmanuel College in a GNAC match-up on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
