NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 23, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team defeated Daniel Webster, 20-2 in the Chargers' 2012 home opener on Friday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-4, while the Eagles suffer their first loss of the season and go to 2-1.
The Chargers opened the scoring 12 seconds into the game when senior
Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) scored her team leading 16th goal of the season. Colby-Sawyer scored the next five goals, before Daniel Webster's Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, R.I.) put the Eagles on the board.

Ashley Reis (Peterborough, N.H.), senior
Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) and freshman
Alyssia Janak (Bourne, Mass.) scored the next three goals to put Colby-Sawyer on top 9-1. Janak's goal was her first collegiate tally.
Bates scored her second goal of the game for Daniel Webster to cut into the Colby-Sawyer advantage with 7:35 left in the first half, but the Chargers scored three more times to end the frame with a 12-2 lead.
Colby-Sawyer tacked on eight goals in the second half en route to the 20-2 victory. Freshman
Carly Baker (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman
Katharine Kessler (Newport, N.H.) each recorded their first collegiate goal.
Reis led all scorers with five goals, while Prudden and Murphy added four and three, respectively. Sophomore
Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) made six saves in 51 minutes to earn the win, while freshman
Jess Buckley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was not tested in the final nine minutes of the game.
Bates added two goals to her team leading total to give her 11 on the year. Sophomore Theresa Moscati (Buffalo, N.Y.) suffered her first loss of the season in goal.
Colby-Sawyer travels to Salem State tomorrow for a 5:00 pm start. Daniel Webster will host Elms on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
