Baseball Plays Two One-Run Games; Splits with Clark

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 11, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida with a double-header split against Clark. The Chargers came away with a 2-1 victory in the first game, but then fell 6-5 in game two.

Colby-Sawyer sits at 5-3 as they return to New England to begin The Commonwealth Coast Conference season on March 20 at Wentworth. 

Mike Bertuccio went four innings in the first game and allowed one run. Kevin Keith came in for relief and struck out four, while surrendering two hits. Jake Szulak had a pair of hits with one run batted in. 

The Chargers scored both of their runs in bottom of the 5th inning on a base hit from Szulak, which scored Cameron Knight. Senior Evan Leary then beat out a bunt for a base hit that scored Brandon McFadden.

Colby-Sawyer fell in game two 6-5. Sean Gavin, Andrew Lapple, Greg Mehuron,and McFadden each had a pair of hits. McFadden knocked in two runs for the Chargers.
