Katelyn Stravinsky Scores Career-High 28 Points to Hand Endicott First TCCC Loss

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 3, 2011 – Senior Katelyn Stravinsky (Norwell, Mass.) scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team past Endicott, 73-64 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) on Thursday evening. 

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-8 overall and 7-1 in TCCC play. Endicott suffers their first conference loss falling to 7-1 and drops to 13-5 overall. 

The Chargers shot 42.3% from the beyond the arc making 11 of26 tries. Endicott dominated the paint with a 32-18 edge, but shot just 32.5% from the floor and 55.6% from the free throw line. 

Stravinsky shot 8-16 from the floor and 6-11 from beyond the arc en route to her career best 28 points. Junior Kaitlin Fifield (Warner, N.H.) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 
Sophomore Cailin Bullett (Millbury, Mass.) added 12 points, while sophomore Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, Mass.) chipped in 10. 

Endicott was led by senior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) who scored 19 points. Senior Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Samantha Crough (Cohasset, Mass.) added 10 points off the bench. 

Colby-Sawyer jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first three minutes of the contest and never looked back. The Chargers' lead ballooned to as much as 20 in the first as they held the Gulls to 25% shooting in the frame. 

Endicott was down as much as 24 early in the second before chipping away at the Chargers lead. The Gulls were able to cut the deficit down to six with under a minute to go in the contest, but a pair of free throws by Fifield and one by Stravinsky iced the game for Colby-Sawyer. 

Colby-Sawyer hits the road on Saturday for a 1:00 pm tip at Salve Regina. Endicott will host Regis at 1:00 pm also on Saturday.
