NASHUA, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team made the trip to Nashua, Wednesday afternoon as they took of the Rivier Raiders where they would fall short 84-61.
Rapid Recap:
- Both teams would open the game by trading buckets, where six of the first Charger points were scored by first year, Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, N.H.) making her third career start. On the other side, the Raiders had Lyric Grumblatt on their side opening up their scoring by dropping in nine points herself early on to give the Raiders a 17-11 lead after the first.
- The Raiders would try and blow open the game early as they were hitting jump shot, after jump shot with eight points coming from Hannah Muchemore to give the Raiders as much as a nine point lead. The Chargers would find a way to storm back with 6 different players scoring to go into the half just down 37-35 with Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT.) leading the way in the quarter dropping five points.Â
- The Raiders would open the second half on an 11-0 run to open the game up to a 13 point deficit. The Chargers would try again to storm back, but the Raiders were hitting as many shots as they could trying to put this game out of reach. MacDonald and Drury would continue to score for the Chargers as they would lead the way together in the third quarter.
- The fourth quarter would open up with Junior, Makenna Grillone (Walpole, N.H.) getting hot for the Chargers hitting a three and a layup. The Chargers would go on to try and comeback in this one, but the Raiders would continue to drain shots to put this one in the books as an 84-61 final.
Inside the Numbers:
- Lyric Grumblatt would lead all scorers with 25 points (7-23 FG) while grabbing 13 rebounds and picking up 8 steals. Teammate, Hannah Muchemore would drop 17 points (6-17 FG) while dishing out 7 assists.Â
- The Chargers would be led by Lauren MacDonald who would drop 15 points (7-14 FG) and grab 5 rebounds. Makenna Grillone would also drop 15 points (5-7 FG) to be one of the leading scorers for the Chargers.
- Tanner Drury would have her best game as a Charger so far dropping 12 points (4-7 FG) in 20 minutes of action.
