Volleyball Goes 7-0 in NAC Play; Earns Home Court Advantage

CASTLETON, Vt. - October 22, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team completed the North Atlantic Conference season a perfect 7-0 after picking up a pair of 3-0 wins against Castleton and Green Mountain on Saturday.

The Chargers are now 16-14 overall and 7-0 in conference play, which earns them a bye in the first round of the NAC postseason tournament and home court advantage throughout.

The Chargers picked up the 3-0 sweep by scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-14. Courtney O'Hara led all players with 10 kills. Jackie Keating added seven kills on a .385 hitting percentage. Emilee McBride collected eight kills and hit .500. Sarah Hannon tallied 12 assists, four aces and four digs.

BOX SCORE vs. Green Mountain

The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball program finished their first season in the North Atlantic Conference with the same number of conference losses as it started it, zero. The Chargers defeated Green Mountain College in their second match of the day to finish their conference slate an undefeated 7-0.

Colby-Sawyer jumped on the Eagles early, building an 18-2 lead in the opening set, and cruised to a 25-6 victory in the first set. The Eagles challenged Colby-Sawyer, hanging with the conference's top team early in the second set, and trailing 11-9 midway through. Colby-Sawyer proved to be too much, scoring fourteen of the matches next twenty points to win the second set 25-14, before polishing off the Eagles in the third set 25-9 to finalize the victory.

Kristin Sawyer directed a near flawless attack for the Chargers, tallying 27 assists while setting up Emilee McBride and Courtney O'Hara who posted 12 and seven kills, respectively. Colby-Saywer improved to 16-14 on the year and will conclude their regular season with a home match vs. Johnson and Wales on October 27th before finishing on the road at Bridgewater state on October 28th.

Green Mountain College got three kills apiece from Kara Egan, Chanleigh Casey and Madison Wage in the loss. The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday October 26th as the host Paul Smiths College in their final home game of the season. GMC fell to 5-15 overall and 2-5 in North Atlantic Conference play with the loss.
