Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CHARGERS HAVE EYE ON PLAYOFFS AFTER REGULAR SEASON FINALE

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team concluded their regular season on Saturday after playing Simmons and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. 

Rapid Recap Game 1: 

  • The first set against Simmons saw the visitors take a 12-8 lead. Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) would go on to record two service aces. The Sharks would win the first set. 

  • Simmons would go on to lead the second set 11-8. Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.) would record two kills. The Sharks would go on to win the second set. 

  • The third set started with Simmons taking a 10-3 lead. Four unanswered points saw the Chargers cut the deficit to four. The Sharks extended their lead to 17-7. Two Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) kills helped the Chargers to cut the score down to 17-13. Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas), Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.), and Piller all recorded aces to help the Chargers win the third set. 

  • The fourth set saw Simmons lead the set 12-7. Brakemeier would get four kills. Simmons would go on to win the fourth set. 

Inside the Numbers Game 1: 

  • Bacon led the team in assists with 24. 

  • Rocky led the team in kills with 9. 

Rapid Recap Game 2: 

  • The Monks started the first set off with a 12-8 lead. The Chargers played strong to change the score to 12-10. Brakemeier and Brooke Tasker (Wolfeboro, N.H.) each recorded kills as the Chargers kept the deficit at two, but the score changed to 15-13 to the Monks. The Monks would go on to win the set. 

  • An even second set saw both teams tied at 12. Two service aces from Sasnett helped the Chargers. However, the Monks would go on to win the second set. 

  • The third set would see both teams tied at nine. Brakemeier would record three kills in the game. The third set would be the last of the match, with the Monks winning 25-18. 

Inside the Numbers Game 2: 

  • Bacon led the team in assists with 21. 

  • Rocky led the team in kills with 7. 

  • Sinatro led the team in digs with 14. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers complete the regular season with a spot in the GNAC playoffs. The Quarterfinals will be on Tuesday against Lasell University at 6PM
