NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 26, 2010 – The Middlebury men's soccer team pushed their win streak and clean sheet streak to six straight games after a 4-0 win at Colby-Sawyer on Sunday. The Panthers scored all of their goals in an eight minute stretch midway through the first half. 

Middlebury, who has outscored their opponents 21-0 thus far this season, improves to 6-0, while the Chargers drop to 4-5. 

The Panthers controlled the tempo from the first whistle and scored their first goal of the contest in the 18th minute. Junior Robbie Redmond (Morristown, N.J.) took a corner kick from the right side and sent in a ball towards the front of the goal. Freshman Graham Knisley (Wakefield, R.I.) got his head on the ball and flicked it to junior teammate Matt Martin (Kenmore, Wash.). Martin then headed the ball past the keeper for his second goal of the season. 

Three minutes later Middlebury scored their second goal of the game. Senior Jake Edwards (Easton, Conn.) was driving down the left flank and fired a rocket into the upper right corner for his second tally of the season. 

In the 24th minute, Middlebury was awarded a penalty shot after one of their forwards was taken down in the box. The team's leading goal scorer, senior Harrison Watkins (San Francisco, Calif.), took the shot and ripped it right down the middle as Colby-Sawyer keeper Will Berry (Berlin, Vt.) dove to his left. The goal was Watkins' fifth of the season. 

Middlebury got their last goal of the contest in the 26th minute. Junior Tyler Macnee (Williston, Vt.) dribbled into the box with a defender in front of him. The two players got tangled, but Macnee somehow came away with the ball and chipped it into the net. 

Junior Tim Cahill (S. Glastonbury, Conn.) earned the shutout win after playing 62 minutes. Sophomore Zack Abdu-Glass (Lexington, Mass.) played the rest of the match and made one save. Berry suffered the loss for the Chargers, but senior Max Williams (Ipswich, Mass.) made eight saves in 63 minutes. 

Colby-Sawyer plays returns to TCCC play on Thursday with a home match against Endicott at 4:00 pm, while Middlebury plays at Plymouth State on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
