Murphy moved into 7th on the all-time career points list

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 8, 2009 – Junior Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored eight times to lead the Curry Colonels to a 22-9 victory over Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday afternoon. The Colonels improve their overall record to 8-4 and go to 3-2 in TCCC play. The Chargers drop to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Hansbury, the conference's leading goal scorer, made her presence known in the first 15 seconds of the contest when she found the back of the net. Forty seconds later, she added her second goal of the game to give Curry a quick 2-0 lead. After taking a 3-1 lead on a Rachel Robichaud (Billerica, Mass.) tally, the Chargers cut the lead to two on a goal by senior Allicia Murphy (North Bennington, Vt.).

However, the next four minutes were controlled by the TCCC's second leading goal scorer, Nikki Mackay (Framingham, Mass.). She scored four of her six goals in that stretch, which gave the Colonels a comfortable 8-2 lead. Curry led 12-7 at the break.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first, when Hansbury scored the first two goals in the opening two minutes. Curry outscored the Chargers 10-2 in the second half and forced 20 turnovers en route to their third straight victory.

Hansbury tallied nine points with eight goals and an assist to lead the Colonels. Mackay scored six times and had two assists. Robichaud registered three goals and two assists in the victory.

Murphy led the Chargers' effort with five goals. She has moved into seventh place on the all-time career points list with 140.
