Pilgrims Sail Past Chargers, 12-9

HENNIKER, N.H. - April 4, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer lacrosse team was defeated by New England College, 12-9 on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers have dropped four straight and have an overall record of 2-4 and a conference record of 1-4. The Pilgrims are 3-4 overall and 3-2 in TCCC play.

New England College controlled the first 10 minutes of the game building a 6-0 lead. The Chargers scored the next three goals to cut the Pilgrims' lead in half. In the final five minutes, each team added a goal to their total. NEC held a 7-4 advantage at the break.

The second half was evenly played with each team scoring five goals. The Chargers made a late run at the Pilgrims pulling within two goals at 11-9 with seven minutes to play. However, NEC added one more goal late to ice the game.

Senior Allicia Murphy (North Bennington, Vt.) led all players with five goals. Freshman Liz Allen (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) tallied two goals apiece.

Emily Tanguay led the Pilgrims with four goals and an assist. Jodie Dresser, Emily Kuchta and Amanda Naime had two goals apiece. Stephanie Curra and Brandi Vittum each added a goal.

The Chargers will look to snap their losing skid with a 3:30 p.m. home game against Curry on Wednesday, April 8.
