CARPENTER THROWS TWO HITTER WHILE CHARGERS SHUTOUT BLAZERS 10-0

CHICOPEE, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team traveled to Massachusetts to take on the Blazers of Elms College looking to pick up another conference win as they enter the month of April where Will Carpenter and the Chargers would come up with a shutout win.

Rapid Recap:
  • Junior Will Carpenter (Medfield, Mass.) would light it up on the mound to kick off the game, throwing eight outs of hit-less baseball as the Chargers defense were backing up their starter. The scoring would get started with a Cooper O'Brien (Vergennes, Vt.) solo home run, marking his fifth of the season. The scoring would continue in the fourth with a Noah Staffier (Beverly, Mass.) double that would drive in Sean Roeger (Salem, N.H.). Mike McLeer (Saco, Maine) would put the Chargers up 3-0 in the inning with an rbi single that would score Staffier.
  • The Chargers would go on to put five more runs on the board in the fifth inning. O'Brien would send a triple into right field that would bring in Dylan Watson (Byfield, Mass.). Staffier would walk with bases loaded to help bring another run across for the Chargers. McLeer would hit a double into right center that would score Roeger and Evan Dennis (East Ryegate, Vt.). Jared Schmitt (Surry, N.H.) would hit a sacrifice fly to help bring in Staffier to make it 8-0.
  • The Chargers would get their ninth and tenth runs in the seventh inning that saw Schmitt hit a double that would score both McLeer and Roeger. Carpenter would sit down the side in the bottom half of the inning to put the mercy rule into affect and give the Chargers the conference win.
