NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team fell short in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup to Elms College by a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Charger grabbed an early lead as senior Finn Husband (Elks Rapid, Mich.) picked up a kill, but an 8-0 run by the Blazers setup the visitors with a  10-2 edge in the early going. Elms continued to lead by a 19-7 margin before junior Austin Ponsness (Queen Creek, Ariz.) started a 3-0 spurt to trim the lead to nine. The Chargers used another 4-0 run later in the set to cut the lead to 22-16 after a pair of kills by Ponsness and another by senior Phu Ngo (Everett, Mass.), but the Blazers finished strong winning 25-17 in the first.
  • Husband started the second set with another kill and a service ace as the Chargers held an early 4-3 advantage. A service ace by Ponsness sparked a 5-1 advantage to push the home team lead to 11-7, but the Blazers stormed back taking a 17-14 lead after a 10-3 counter. A kill by Ponsness and an ace by first year CJ Murphy (Sudbury, Mass.) got the Chargers even again at 20-20, but a closing 5-0 strike by Elms put the second set away.
  • In the third set the Blazers took an early 13-7. Colby-Sawyer continued to trail 16-9 before a counter 4-1 run had the Chargers within just four points headed into the late stages. The Blazers continued to lead 24-16, but the Chargers gave one more 3-0 run with a kill by Ponsness but Elms closed things out 25-19.
