NASHUA, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team fell short in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup to Rivier University on Tuesday by a 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-15).
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers grabbed an early 3-2 lead as junior Austin Ponsness (Queen Creek, Ariz.) picked up an early kill. The Raiders countered on a 14-1 run to take a 16-4 lead. Sophomore Isaac Davies (Hinesburg, Vt.) picked up a pair of kills, but the Chargers fell by a 25-8 margin.
- In the second set Colby-Sawyer and Rivier University were knotted at 2-2 after another Davies kill. Back-to-back kills by senior Finn Husband (Elk Rapids, Mich.) led the Chargers on a 7-3 run to take a 9-8 lead. The Riaders responded with a 12-3 run en route to the 25-14 win.
- Colby-Sawyer a early 3-1 lead in the first set following a pair of aces by Davies. Another kill by Ponsness kept the game tied at 4-4, before first year Aiden Fortier (Londonderry, N.H.) gave the visitors the lead with a service ace. A kill by Ponsness and Davies kept the Chargers within 11-9, but the home team eventually pulled away to clinch the 25-15 win.

- Davies led the offense with four kills, two service aces and a pair of digs. Ponsness was next with four kills and an ace. Husband added a pair of kills to go with four digs.
- Senior Phu Ngo (Everett, Mass.) led the defensive effort with six digs.Â
- First year CJ Murphy (Sudbury, Mass.) led the passing with eight assists.Â
