CHICOPEE, Mass
. - The Colby-Sawyer men's volleyball team fell against Elms College during their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Thursday evening by a 3-0 final.

- Sophomore Isaac Davies (Hinesburg, Vt.) kicked started the Chargers offense after recording two early kills coupled with Blazer attacking errors to give Colby-Sawyer a 4-2 lead. Sophomore Austin Ponsness (Queens Creek, Ariz.) earned his first kill of the match off the assist from first year CJ Murphy (Sudbury, Mass.) to make it 5-3. Shortly after, senior Finn Husband (Elks Rapid, Mich.) tallied a kill followed by back-to-back kills from Davies to extend the Chargers advantage to 9-5. The Blazers tied the set at 9-9, but first year Patrick Foley (Newton, Mass.) quickly responded with a kill to put the Chargers ahead 10-9. Thanks to a Davies kill and attacking error by Elms, the Chargers tied the set at 15-15. The Blazers offense started clicking towards the end of the set going on a 5-1 run to win the first set by a 25-20 final.
- Elms took an early 2-0 advantage to start the second set, but Davies would tie it at 2-2 after notching a kill and service ace. With Elms ahead 5-3, the Chargers capitalized on Blazer errors to take back the lead at 8-7 after a service ace by Ponsness. Following a kill by Davies to put Colby-Sawyer up 11-10, Elms would string four consecutive points to make it 14-11. Ponsness disrupted the Blazers attack with a kill followed by another kill from senior Phu Ngo (Everett, Mass.) to make it 15-14. Â The Chargers battled to keep the score close nearing set point as Murphy recorded his first kill of the evening making it 24-22. The Blazers would win the second set by a 25-23 final to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
- In the third set, Elms started strong by building a 6-1 run. A pair of kills from Ponsness helped Colby-Sawyer narrow Elms led to 7-5. The Chargers were able to tie it at 10-10 thanks to a Davies kill off the assist by Murphy. After exchanging points midway through the set, Husband would tally a kill to tie the set once again at 15-15. Elm's offense found their rhythm recording seven kills in their 9-2 run to win the third set 25-20.
- Davies led the Chargers offense with 18 kills along with 13 digs, one service ace, and three blocks. Ponsness ended the match with six kills, nine digs, two solo blocks, and a service ace while Murphy led the passing effort with 28 assists and five digs. Â
