NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Chargers women's tennis team beat the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) by a 6-1 final to earn the right to host the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship.

Rapid Recap:

• The Chargers held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles sessions as junior Grace Carpenter (Milford, N.H.) and first year Maria Espinosa Lopez (Merida, Mexico) picked up a 8-0 win in number one doubles, while senior Mary Thoms (Northwood, N.H.) and junior Mei Genest (Keene, N.H.) picked up 8-4 win in number three doubles. 
• In singles action Carpenter, junior Amelia Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.), Thoms, and Genest took home wins all winning in two sets.

"The team is super happy with the result of today's match!", said junior Mei Genest (Keene, N.H.). "We've been working for this all season, and we're super excited for the championship next weekend!"

The Chargers will take host the GNAC Championship against Regis on Saturday October 21st.
