NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Chargers had a big crowd for the home opener in 2022, falling in a hard fought five set match against Wentworth Institute of Technology 3-2 (26-24, 17-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-8).
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers and Leopards traded the first two sets with Wentworth taking the first 26-24 and the Chargers taking the second 25-17. In the third set the Leopards jumped ahead and held off Colby-Sawyer to win 25-22.
- In the fourth set Colby-Sawyer answered back jumping ahead 7-2 off of three aces from senior Kaytlin Young (Goffstown, N.H.). Sophomore Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) added two kills late with sophomore Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) adding an ace to propel the Chargers to another 25-17 win.
- In the fifth set the Leopards led the whole way throught jumping ahead 5-1 and closing the game out 15-8.
Notes & Notables:
- Majenski led the Chargers in kills today with 15 total. Senior Mia Harmon (Concord, N.H.) added a big 10 kill performance with a stellar .308 kill percentage.
- Young and Fontes were big serving for the Chargers today combining for 11 service aces between the pair.
- Sophomore Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) led the passing attack with 35 assists.
- Fontes led the backline with 19 digs followed closely by sophomore Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.).

The Chargers will host Northern Vermont University - Johnson and Salem State University in a tri-match on Saturday in New London with the first game starting at 11 AM.
