Chargers Shut Out Elms College 2-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Chargers picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win on a foggy and rainy Tuesday night defeating Elms College by a 2-0 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • Colby-Sawyer started off firing with six shots on net in the first 13 minutes of the match as the Elms keeper Collin Liedke making all six saves. In the 25th minute first year Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) made a goal-saving save as Noah Jacques found the ball right outside the six yard line and shot to the right corner as Bartolon dove with his hand out to stop it. The final chance of the half came as first year Nick Carrabino (Fair Haven, Vt.) drove the ball from the midfield and took a final shot with a diving save to keep the game 0-0 at the end of the first half.
  • In the 49th minute the Chargers got on the board as senior Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England) drove the 18 yard box and found sophomore Jadon Baros (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who finished home his fourth goal of the year. Elms countered with another golden opportunity, but couldn't find the target. Colby-Sawyer doubled their lead in the 70th minute as sophomore Jah Gordon (Pittsfield, N.H.) headed home a corner from Buchanan to finish home the score. Both teams did not create another opportunity as the Chargers picked up the shut out win.

I had four minutes and I got it off my head and I didn't even see it go in but I'm excited. I got a lot of supporters here so, you know I'm thankful for everyone that I have met at Colby-Sawyer it's a great place, I love it. We just got to keep on fighting with intensity you know those first ten minutes are what's crucial in all of our games and that dictate what we are going to do."
