PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team dropped their season opener to the Plymouth State Panthers by a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-19) final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers took an early 3-2 advantage before surrendering six of seven points to the Panthers. A senior Mia Harmon (Concord, N.H.) kill sparked a quick three-point run to get the set within 8-7. Plymouth State countered with a 8-0 run later in the set to pull away to win the first set.
- The second set went back and forth with the Chargers owning an early 12-11 lead. Senior Ameesah Cotten (Newburgh, N.Y.) sparked a four-point swing with a pair of kills to put Colby-Sawyer up 16-11. The Panthers countered with 12-4 run to jump back in front before winning the set by a 25-21 final.
- Plymouth State jumped ahead 8-3 in the third set, before a 6-1 counter from the Chargers starred by a pair of kills by Harmon and three assists by sophomore Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.). The Panthers bounced back with a 10-4 run to seal the three-set win.
Stats & Figures:
- Sophomore Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) led the offense with nine kills, while Harmon followed with seven kills on the night. Cotten had a big night as well with six kills, four total blocks and a dig. Senior Olivia Werner (Williston, Vt.) added four kills, an assist and a pair of assisted blocks.
- Patnode led the passing for Colby-Sawyer with 19 assists to go along with six digs.
- Sophomore Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) led the team defensively with 13 digs from the backline.
- Lilli Stogner led the Panthers with 16 kills.

The Chargers head back on the road tomorrow to start the Brandeis University Invitational with a game against Worcester State University tipping off at 5:00 PM.
