NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers returned to action on Thursday picking up a big 4-1 win over the Clark University Cougars. With the win
Zachary Grady notched his first collegiate win as a head coach.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers started off the scoring early as senior Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England) laced a ball past the keeper on a free kick in the 17th minute to give the home team the lead. Clark responded launching the next four shots, but only one was on target with a big save from first year Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) as the first half concluded.
- Colby-Sawyer continued to battle at the start of the second half with another diving save from Bartolon. The Chargers transitioned from the save as the ball found first year Nick Carrabino (Fair Haven, Vt.) who took a 30 foot shot which found the top corner to give Colby-Sawyer a 2-0 advantage. The momentum continued as a free kick strike from Bartolon found the boot of Buchanan who lobbed a pass to senior Fabrice Francois (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) who used his head to put the Chargers up three.
- Another score late put the game away as senior Nick Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) settled and placed a ball to sophomore Jadon Baros (Colorado Spring, Colo.) who then put the shot away with ease past the keeper. The Cougars picked up a late goal as Teddy Donahue found William Lopez to give Clark their first goal of the year.
