The Summary
  • A shot by freshman Courtney Larson (West Newbury, Mass.) that missed wide within the first minute of the game gave a short glimpse of how the game might go. The Wildcats answered back with a shot of their own, but fortunately for them, it hit the back of the net to put Johnson and Wales up, one in the second minute of the first quarter. In the eighth minute, a penalty corner for Colby-Sawyer sparked a convincing shot by sophomore Aleah Murph, (Portland, ME) which was blocked perfectly in time for it to land in front of junior Bella Silva (Danvers, Mass.) who ripped the ball into the back of the net to tie the game up in the first quarter. Enraged by the Charger goal, the Wildcats countered with their second goal of the game to give them a 2-1 lead going into the second quarter.
  • A shot by junior Aoife Daly (Harwich, Mass.) hit the post which set Larson up for her second goal of the game. The action continued, as Daly shredded another shot, saved by the Wildcats keeper. Despite the Johnson & Wales defensive efforts to keep Daly scoreless, she does it again and earns her seventh goal of the season to give her team a much-needed lead over the Wildcats.
  • Just a minute and a half into the third period, graduate student, Julia Lanctot (Sandown, NH) seamlessly provides senior Chrissy Coffield (North Conway, N.H.)  with a through ball to give the senior for her first goal of the match.
  • With the score now set at 4-2, junior Calie Sorenson (Sandwich, Mass.) supplies the Chargers with an insurance goal to make it 5-2 with eight minutes left in the game. In the 55th minute, the Wildcats were able to sneak a goal past the Charger defense to finish the day with three goals.
