NEW LONDON, N.H.- The Colby-Sawyer College baseball team will open up their season against Norwich University in a doubleheader on April 18
th. Here's a preview of the upcoming season.
Things to Know
- Head Coach Tom White will be the head coach of the Chargers for the first time this season. White is a Colby-Sawyer Hall of Famer for his talent on the baseball diamond and the soccer pitch.
- The Chargers will be led by seven seniors this year Cam Brooks (Northborough, MA), Danny McCrystal (Londonderry, NH), Jesse Galanti (Foxborough, MA), Alec Burns (Enosburg Falls, VT), Owen Cottle (Harwich, MA), Ryan Cummiskey (Billerica, MA) and Noah Yeingst (Middleboro, MA)
- McCrystal, who will be leading things behind the plate again this year hopes to move up to second place all time with most runners caught stealing. He is currently at 28.
- Galanti will try to continue his hot hitting from the Covid shortened season from a year ago. The junior now turned senior was batting .471 before the season abruptly ended.
- Sophomore Ian Turpel (Cohasset, Mass.) will look to stay locked in after starting every game for the Chargers in his freshman season a year ago. The first year, batted .323, which was good enough for second best among everyday players.
- Newcomers Zach Rogers (Mashpee, Mass.), Matt Miller (Dracut, Mass.), Jack Matarese (Ashland, Mass.), and Mike Allard (Sanbornton, N.H.) will look to make an immediate impact in their first season in New London.
