Rapid Recap (Lasell):

  • Senior captain Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Cal.) fired up the first set with two back-to-back serving aces to get a quick 2-0 lead over the Lasell Lasers. With the score even at 10, four straight attacking errors provided the Lasers with a 14-10 lead in which they held for the remainder of the set taking the first set 25-20.
  • After a quick 3-0 lead over the Chargers, a kill by freshman Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Maine) placed Colby-Sawyer on the scoreboard. A successful attack by junior Ava LaValle (Peabody, Mass.) and two attacking errors by the Lasers knotted the score at five. Both teams took turns earning kills and scoring points with the Chargers trailing the Lasers. Tied at 17-17, the Chargers grasped the lead for the second time within the set and brought set 2 home 25-23.
  • The Chargers, fired up from their previous set, opened the third set with an eight-point run with services from Allen to gain an 8-0 lead over the Lasers. With the score 20-11 Chargers, a great attempt to catch up was made by Lasell with a four-point run. However, despite their effort, the Chargers managed to keep Lasell in their rear-view mirror as they reached 25, leaving the Lasers at 18.
  • The points in the fourth set were spread rather equally throughout the set with neither team having a run more than three. The Chargers had a total of seven kills opposed to Lasell's 10 which aided the Lasers in taking the fourth set 25-19. Both teams head into the fifth and final set tied 2-2.
  • Lasell ran up a quick 4-0 lead over the Chargers to begin the fifth set. The Chargers, unable to catch up, fell 15-9, receiving their second GNAC loss of the season.

Rapid Recap (USJ):
  • Coming off a tough loss, the Chargers grabbed the lead over the Blue Jays to start their second game of the day 3-0. A powerful attack by LaValle jumpstarted their five-point run consisting of four straight kills and a serving ace by Thornton to take the first set 25-7.
  • Keeping the momentum on their side, the Chargers started the second set with a seven-point run right out of the gates. Later in the set, an eight-point run beginning with a successful attack by junior Olivia Werner (Williston, VT.) separated the Chargers from the Blue Jays, 18-4. Allowing just three points, the Chargers took set 2 from the Blue Jays 25-7.
  • Late in the third set, a five-point run by the Blue Jays set the score at 17-16, Chargers. Luckily, the women were able to keep the Blue Jays behind them and take the third and final set of the day 25-21.
