2021: Thornton made an immediate impact for the Chargers in 2021 playing in 25 matches and making 18 starts. Shaelyn ended the year with 76 matches played ending the year leading the Chargers in kill with 167 to go along with 227 digs, 30 service aces, 30 assists and six blocks. Thornton had her first big performance of the season on September 11th against Regis College with 14 kills, 21 digs, a pair of assists, a service ace and a block. Thornton had a career-best 17 kills on September 22nd against Salem State University to go along with 10 digs, an assist and a service ace in a Charger win. Shaelyn had a career-high six service aces on October 16th against Anna Maria College to go with 10 kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 victory. 

PRIOR TO COLBY-SAWYER: Graduate of Scarborough High School, where Thornton was a State Champion in 2017 and a Runner-Up in 2019. Thornton was a three-time Maine First Team All-State selection as well as a Team MVP and a team captain.
